GEORG JENSEN KOPPEL WATCH COLLECTION

In our last Georg Jensen watches post we looked at at the range as a whole, but each Georg Jensen watch collection deserves a post of it’s own to explore each collections distinctive styling and design. We are going to look at the Koppel collection first. The Georg Jensen Koppel collection is striking for many reasons but what stands out is the combination of clarity and looks, yet each watch in the Koppel collection is understated, it is almost a contridiction of terms to sum up this collection.

Making it’s first appearance in 1978, the Koppel collection became an instant hit due to it’s fresh , uncluttered aesthetics and design. A classic watch design had been created. (click the images below to find out more).



It doesn’t stop there, underneath the watches, refined, clean exterior you will find a swiss movement which offers technical and performance excellence. Looking at these watches you cannot fail to be impressed at the design prowess to create such a classic.

How did the Georg Jensen Koppel collection get it’s name ?

Good question, the collection is named after it’s designer Henning Koppel. Born in 1918 Henning koppel joined Georg Jensen in 1946, his ground breaking designs were award winning. Hennings designs are noted for their clean lines and the ability to turn practical items into beautifully crafted designs without losing any of their functionality, which he achieved with ease. Sadly Henning Koppel passed away in 1981 but the purity of his designs live on for all to enjoy. Henning worked with Georg Jensen for many years and his designs can be seen in many other Georg Jensen items such as necklaces and bracelets.
